The University of Wales, Aberystwyth
Established in 1872, the University of Wales, Aberystwyth is the oldest university institution in Wales. During 130 years, we have established an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research. Aberystwyth has pioneered a number of innovative subjects, for example, Theatre, Film & Television Studies, Computer Science and International Politics were first introduced by Aberystwyth.
Located in spectacular scenery on the shores of Cardigan Bay, the University is probably the most well situated of any of British university. Aberystwyth offers a range of valuable and prestigious Entrance Scholarships, worth up to £3,450 over three years. In addition to the UniversityÕs excellent information and technology and library resources, Aberystwyth is also home to the National Library of Wales, one of the great copyright libraries in Great Britain. The University has, since 1994, invested over £35m in new student accommodation and is proud to guarantee a place in University accommodation for every first year student. The University also enjoys an employment rate of 98% amongst its graduate body and one of the lowest drop out rates of any British university.
